Elwood House

The project

A mid-centure building is transformed into a spectacular family residence

The original house was actually two apartments that were accessed independently.

The brief was to combine the apartments into a single family residence with gardens front and back including a 2 car garage accessed from the rear lane.

The mid-century modernist cream coloured bricks style and colour palette was respected and embraced in the design elements added to the interior and exterior.

The original blue carpet was retained and complimented with a large feature wall of local limestone, integrated wood fired firebox, seagrass fabric wall cladding and tailored timber detailing.

A cantilevered steel staircase marks the entry lobby and leads to the refurbished upper level.  All fit-out works reflect a desire to embrace the mid-century timelessness of the house.
