The extension to the Federation style house in St. Kilda is an exploration into what can be achieved in the suburban block. The design concept is simply a black box contains the children’s wing and a folded zinc form that contains the living space. The design tests the duality between carving solid forms (black box) and the construction of modelled forms (folded zinc). The new kitchen straddles the space between the old house and the new.
